Dual-Implementation RAG with a Shared Eval Harness

Featured in progress

Building the same retrieval-augmented-generation system two ways, in Python (FastAPI + Chroma/LanceDB with local sentence-transformers embeddings) and as a versioned n8n workflow, over one synthetic billing/finance corpus, to compare code-native engineering against automation tooling.

Designed a shared eval harness scoring retrieval recall@k, faithfulness via LLM-as-judge, answer relevance, and latency/cost, plus a not-in-corpus refusal test that measures hallucination and forces explicit handling of failure modes. Enforced citation-grounded generation in both implementations so answer faithfulness is measurable; outputs a side-by-side code-vs-n8n comparison and a “when to choose each” engineering write-up.
